Police, Fire, and Recreation Minutes 10/06/15

Recreation-Police-Fire Committee Meeting
October 6th, 2015
6:00pm
Council Library, Municipal Building

In attendance were Councilmembers John Ranz, Bill Puthoff and Jeff Albrinck, Police Chief Niel Korte, Fire Chief Mike Hauck, Mayor Don Apking, Administrative Asst to the Mayor,David Elmer, Chief Fiscal Officer Cynthia Carracci, Village Engineer James Jeffers, and Recreation Director Dave Nichols. Also in attendance were Stiney Vonderhaar and Diane Redden

1) Village Engineer- Mr Ranz asked Mr Jeffers to provide the committee with an assessment of the Baxter Park parking lot, including the need to add handicap spaces. Mr Jeffers will evaluate and provide the committee with options in November.

2) Recreation- Dave Nichols reported that they will be donating several inflatables to the Hamilton County Fair.

3) Police- Chief Korte reported that the purchase of the cell phone forensic program will be on this month's agenda. Funds in the Law Enforcement Trust Fund and the Drug Enforcement Fund will be used to purchase the program.

Chief Korte also provided the committee with the Monthly Mayor's Court report, without discussion.

Officers Tietgemeier and Roach were recognized with Letters of Appreciation and Commendation, respectively, for excellent police work and service to the community.

4) Fire- Chief Hauck reported that they are switching the outsourcing of the fire hydrant repairs to Hamilton County with the expectation that they will provide repairs more timely and at a reduced cost.
The Medic Unit was infested with bed bugs after a patient transport. The unit, all gear, areas of potential contact and personnel received appropriate attention, including the inspection and decontamination of the fire department and homes of those involved.

5) Administration- Cynthia Carracci reported that she will be transferring funds from the General Fund to appropriate funds for income tax refunds due to a very large and unexpected refund, and transfer funds from the Capital Improvement Fund for engineering services for the Reading Road project

Upon motion by Bill Puthoff and seconded by Jeff Albrinck, the meeting adjourned at 6:55.
